The Magray Lineage & Puotyal Family Name

Believed to be of Rajput origin, the Magrays settled in Kashmir around the 13th century, historically associated with the ruling class (Kashtri) and defense. They played a pivotal role in governing Kashmir for centuries and were among the early converts to Islam in the 14th century, during the era of Syed Ali Hamdani.
